In 1980, when Peter Allen needed a choir to sing on the recording of his new song I Still Call Australia Home, he naturally turned to the top youth choir in Australia: the Green Valley Youth Choir.
Over its 40-year history, the choir saw dozens of youngsters pass through its ranks and performed at many historic occasions, undertaking international tours to rapturous audiences in the USA, Canada, Asia and throughout Europe.
Our Song is the choir's final recording, issued to coincide with their World tour in 2008. The disc features a fine mix of contemporary material, written by Rita MacNeil, Helen Mottee and Jordan Worner, together with the 18th Century hymn Love Divine, All Loves Excelling by Charles Wesley. A high point is the choir's respectful rendition of Peter Allen's Tenterfield Saddler and When Christmas Comes To Town from the movie The Polar Express. |
